Ok, ok. I know this is a bit late, but rather than burdening myself with unrealistic expectations of a new year, new me, I'm taking inspiration from Lynsey and heading into January with a gentler approach. Because let’s be honest. January is already a tough month.
Despite a cold start to the year and Blue Monday fast approaching, I’m feeling positive and excited about what 2025 has to bring, boosted by some productive client meetings and two thought-provoking team co-work days to kick-start the year.
Rather than setting a list of resolutions that will have fallen by the wayside come the end of this week, I've decided to bring five things with me into 2025. Think of them as inspiration, rather than hard and fast rules!
1. Meeting up more
As a relatively old-timer in the industry, I remember the pre-Covid days when the office and face-to-face meetings were everything. Nobody had to worry about whether they were on mute or whether the mess in the background was blurred.
I’ll be honest. I still love meeting up in person. This might sound strange coming from someone working in a remote agency but, believe it or not, we really do believe in face time. Our co-work days give us the chance to reflect, brainstorm and inspire each other, along with a couple of cheeky after work glasses of fizz.
And there's still nothing quite like meeting clients in person to chat about results and brainstorm solutions.

2. Asking the right questions
Asking questions is underrated. Be curious. Be open to learning more about other people. Don’t have an agenda. That’s when you learn the most. And this allows you to really ‘hear’ what your clients are trying to say, meaning you can delve deeper and find out more.
We know we've done a good job if we hear "That's a great question". Expect more questions that are designed to challenge you and really make you think.
3. Networking
I’ve made a pact to get out there more this year. 2024 taught me, more than ever before, that personal connections are crucial. So, 2025 is going to be all about reconnecting with people.
When it comes to networking it’s not a numbers game. You don’t always have to come out of it with a guaranteed story for your client or a new business win. Sometimes it can be about being helpful or learning something new with no expectations or agenda.
So, ping me your invites and expect to hear more about the places I’ve been.
4. Storytelling
Simple storytelling is at the heart of everything we do. If you’ve ever met any of us, you know that we truly believe that simple ideas and compelling stories are always the best.
We're often quizzed on media relationships, but a great relationship is meaningless unless you have a good story to tell.
5. Really thinking about KPIs
Vanity metrics are great. They definitely play a role (not just in massaging a PR agency’s ego). But it’s also really important to think about the true impact of PR and how that links back to our clients’ business objectives. Because results aren't valuable unless they link back to these.
If you’d like to meet up (in person or virtually) and chat about how we might be able to tell your story and meet your objectives, get in touch.
