Five things... to help kick-start your PR in the New Year

Updated: Feb 6

By Lynsey Barry:

Whether you are taking your first steps into PR for your business, or looking to ramp up efforts, here’s some key things to consider.

Keep it simple

We’re dedicated to finding simple ways to communicate complex themes. This is vital for anyone kicking off a PR programme. The minute it becomes complex is the moment it will begin to falter and confuse audiences. Be clear about what you are trying to achieve, is it brand awareness, leads, both?

Tell a great story

Having a compelling story to tell is at the heart of how people communicate – and it shouldn’t be any different for brands. Your latest products and wins are great, but if you really want to elevate your brand or organisation, we need to find and tell the stories that really resonate with your customers and prospects.

Get board-level buy in

Ultimately, this is the difference between success and failure, especially in the first six months. Being clear what PR will (and crucially won’t) deliver and then demonstrating that regularly with the board should be at the heart of your PR efforts.

Chemistry

There are a lot of PR agencies out there, and most of them say very similar things! People buy people. We’ve experienced firsthand how important relationships are. Find the PR partner that feels right for you, and the rest will come. Simple.

Keep going!

Finally, don’t stop. PR works best when it’s a constant drumbeat of activity. There will be times when campaigns are needed to support specific goals, but a stop-start approach to PR will limit the overall impact.

Looking to kick-start your PR this year? We’d love to hear from you.
